Felt & Nonwoven FabricsFelts and nonwoven
materials are typically used a buffers between interior components for the purpose of
noise reduction. Traditionally known as "anti-squeak" tape, these materials can
be made of polyester, rayon, nylon, wool and other fibers. Production methods vary by
manufacturer. All of these methods basically revolve around the random lying of fibers.
This is done in order to attain a specified weight over a given area.
Common Applications:
- "Anti-squeak" applications for door liners,
instrument panels and pillar.
- Dust barriers for speaker grill fabric.
- Filter media for air purifiers.
